ABOUT
Welcome to the website of the ‘Polifonia’ Innovative Conservatoire Seminars. The three seminar cycle, which runs from April 2009 to April 2010, is designed to bring together the expertise and experience of musicians who teach in higher music education institutions. The seminars provide opportunities to debate key issues, reflect on practice, engage with research, and develop innovative projects and collaborative research.
The seminars are part of the work of the ‘Polifonia’ Research Working Group, and are run by the European Association of Conservatoires (AEC).
After a selection procedure, a group of twenty-five participants from twelve institutions in ten European countries was chosen to participate in all three seminars.

The seminars are lead by Helena Gaunt (Guildhall School of Music & Drama, UK) and Bart van Rosmalen (Royal Conservatoire, the Netherlands) and evaluated by Rineke Smilde (Prince Claus Conservatoire, the Netherlands) – all members of the ‘Polifonia’ Research Working Group.
