One-to-one Workshop
Helena has been involved in a two day workshop with conservatoire/higher education instrumental teachers/composers, focusing on one-to-one tuition. This is part of a collaborative programme with the Institute of Education in London. Some of the teachers are from the Guildhall School. One of the big themes which came out was the importance (and difficulty) of enabling students to take responsibility for their learning and become more independent. This is clear in the headlines from one of our sessions. So a big question remains: what practical strategies do you have which help students take more responsibility for their own learning and development?
